Some jasmine rice with a little lemon juice, some peas, and I cooked an egg mixed it on in.

Here’s what you’ll need!

2 cups White/Jasmine Rice

1 cupFrozen Peas

1 cup Frozen Corn

(Alternatively, you can buy frozen mixed veggies for cheaper)

2 Eggs

1 White onion (I used about a quarter of it for this recipie

Soy Sauce

(optional) Ginger

Salt and Pepper

a little vegetable oil

I decided to cook my eggs first. Go ahead and turn on your rice cooker while you get ready. Break your eggs into a bowl and sprinkle some salt over them. Mix it together the way you would making scrambled eggs… Just… without the milk.

Throw that into your Rice cooker and let it cook. Close the lid to make things go faster, and make sure you check periodically and scramble the eggs as you go.

When the eggs are ready, take them out and put them in a separate bowl

    3. clean out your rice cooker and heat it up again while you prepare. dice some onions into small pieces. Add some vegetable oil into the bottom of the rice cooker and dump your onion bits in.

Once they start to change color, you can go ahead and dump them out into the same bowl as the eggs. You’ll set these aside and use them later.

4. Now to prepare our rice. Since I haven’t done a crash course on rice yet, we’ll go over that right now.

Empty the rice into the rice cooker, and pour water into it. It should look something like this:

Super cloudy, you can barely see your rice. This is NOT WHAT WE WANT!

Start rinsing your rice. Pour the water out and replace it with new water until it ends up clearing up as much as you can make it clear up.

Now that your rice is clean, add two and a half cups of water (that is if you’re following my recipe. It’s usually one cup of water to one cup of rice, and then I usually add a half of a cup of water just to be safe)

5. Check your rice. Once the water starts boiling, add in your peas and corn. Close the lid and wait until your rice is finished cooking.

6. Turn off your rice cooker. Add in your eggs. Add soy sauce and ginger until it tastes the way you want it.

NOW SERVE IT!

Anyone want me to try and make something specific?

Anyone want me to try and make something specific?

You should get some sushi vinegar and cook rice with it. I had a serious need for cheese today, so I decided to make some mac and cheese! This is probably...

I had a serious need for cheese today, so I decided to make some mac and cheese! This is probably one of the easiest things you could ever make in a rice cooker ever ever ever. Like honestly, it could be illegal it’s so easy to make.

But anyway, on with the recipe!

What you’ll need:

1 cup elbow macaroni (or whatever type of macaroni you’d like, go crazy)

1 tablespoon butter

1/2 cup water

1/2 cup milk

Cheese (whatever type you’d like, I used sharp cheddar, but I recommend getting mixed shredded cheeses) Add till it tastes amazing.

Optional: A pinch of cayenne pepper

LET’S BEGIN, SHALL WE?

1. Combine macaroni, butter, water, and milk in your rice cooker, go ahead and turn it on, use your average cook setting.

So tasty looking, yeah?

Go ahead and close the lid of your rice cooker. Make sure to check back frequently and stir your mixture. The noodles can stick together rapidly and you want to make sure that doesn’t happen.

Since you are using milk, the milk can boil over if you’re not attentive, so like I said before… Keep checking back!

here we have some sweet combining/boiling action!

and now everything is combined and the noodles are all cooked. The milk will make everything nice and creamy.

Go ahead and remove the pan from your rice cooker and set it outside of the cooker to stop the boiling process.

Now what you must do is add the best part… The cheese.

2) Add in your mixed cheese and stir in. I usually add a whole lot because I am just a cheese lover, but keep on tasting and you’ll find your happy cheese level.

3) If you’re feeling spicy, add a pinch of cayenne powder.

And now all you need to do is transfer that stuff into an eating container and have yourself a cheesy wonderful time!

Here is a Rice Cooker Quinoa Casserole! Kind of. It’s adapted from a dish my brother makes often for himself.

I found quinoa (キヌア) at my local grocery store! It’s a small package and somewhat pricey, but the other ingredients are not so expensive, so it works out well.

Quinoa can be cooked in a rice cooker on normal “white rice” settings. For each 1 part of quinoa, you need to add 2 parts water. This package is 150g, (about 1 cup in American measurements) so I added 2 cups of water. The end result is what you see above (though blurry) in the rice cooker. It’s fluffy!

In a separate glass dish, I put half a chopped onion, 2 chopped tomatoes, and most of one chopped red bell pepper, one yellow bell pepper (パプリカ), and a few small green peppers (ピーマン). Added to that about half of a container of salsa (it was half because I ate the other half for breakfast…DON’T JUDGE ME! XD).

I mixed the quinoa with the vegetable/salsa mixture. After that, I cut a lime in half and, using one half, squeezed lime juice over the top to add more moisture and some more flavor.

After that, I put the casserole dish in my microwave oven on the oven setting at 180 degrees Celsius (about 350 degrees Fahrenheit) for 20 minutes.

The last picture on the right is the final product!

Ask box is open!

Tuna Melt

Let’s start this blog off with what I had for dinner tonight.

For those of you who don’t know what a tuna melt is… Well, it’s a sandwhich, containing tuna and melted cheese. I like to throw in some extra ingredients, however, to make the experience more savory.

This was my first time cooking this recipe in a rice cooker, so I hit a few bumps that I can now educate you all about. What I can tell you about this is that it is super delicious and super easy to make.

So, let’s begin!

Here we have our ingredients:

Canned tuna

Mayonnaise

Cheese (preferably get cheese that is pre-sliced. It will make life so much easier for you)

Two slices of bread

Cumin (it’s a spice not shown in this set up, derp. It can be on the pricer side, but you can use it in a variety of things, for me it is a staple.)

Butter (soft)

Lemon Juice

Instructions:

1)Okay, so we’re gonna start off by opening the can of Tuna with a can opener, or if you’re really fancy you can just get those cans where you can pull off the lid! Make sure you drain the liquid out, we don’t really need that. While you’re at it, turn your rice cooker on and get it heated up! We want it nice and hot for when we start cooking.

2) Now Place your tuna in a bowl. Add a small amount of cumin (it can be a strong spice, if you put too much in it can be a tad overwhelming) A couple pinches shall suffice. After that, add in two or three drops of lemon juice, and a spoonful of mayonnaise.

3) NOW MIX ALL THAT NICE STUFF TOGETHER.

4) Butter one side of your bread pieces. Make you’re butter is nice and soft or else you’re going to run into problems like I did because I was just so excited to cook everything.

5) Now butter the inside of your rice cooker and toast that bread! One piece at a time.

6) Once your bread is toasted on one side, construct your sandwich. Place all of your tuna inside, and lay some cheese on top!

Then, place your bread on top and lay it in your rice cooker and close the lid. The cool thing about rice cookers is that the heat can distribute to better heat everything up, melt it, etc. Check on it every few minutes to make sure everything is melting together fine and that your bread isn’t overcooking.

This is my finished product. Beautiful, isn’t it? Not really, I’m not into attractive eats, I’m a fan of edible eats. My bread fell apart a bit because I was harsh with the buttering, but that can be avoided easily by using softer butter.

NOW EAT IT. I JUST DID AND IT WAS DELICIOUS.

I don't cook every day

but when I do, I’ll be sure to post the recipe and prices involved, along with many comprehensive pictures.
